Mr Harry Styles.

Figure 1

Now this a blog post that I knew I had to do back in September when we first got set our blog brief. From his X Factor days in 2010, to One Direction and now latest solo career, I have always been a massive fan but I think it’s interesting talk about, aside from the fact that he was my biggest celebrity crush!

Harry Styles has always been a pretty well known celebrity, predominantly as a singer but I wanted to start with his influence on fashion. Since embarking on his solo path, his choice of apparel changed drastically. His stylist became Harry Lambert, a man we can only thank for such innovative choices, and his followers avidly wait to see what his next suit will look like. A few examples are shown above, but what we’ve seen is that Style isn’t shy to try new colours and bold styles which aren’t typically worn by anyone else so commonly in the public eye. He’s breaking stereotypes for men globally, showing that it’s okay to be seen in frills and floral patterns. In fact, many people do try to mimic his looks, whether thats through printed trousers or bold jacket choices- he has definitely made his mark!

On an even brighter note, Styles’ most recent tour raised $1.2 million for over 62 charities across the world. From March for our Lives to Times Up and the We Love Manchester Emergency Fun. He matched payments, gave away a % of ticket and merchandise sales plus his own contributions. It’s incredible to see a figure in the public eye, take the opportunity to do something incredibly well with his platform, rather than keeping it for his own benefit. I went to see him on his tour and it took me by awe, the fact that he mentions how much these charities mean to him and his support for the LGBTQ+ community specifically. No other concert or festival has taken their place to discuss such matters like he did, which was simply incredible.

“If you are black, if you are white, if you are gay, if you are straight, if you are transgender — whoever you are, whoever you want to be, I support you. I love every single one of you.”

This quote is from Mr Styles himself who commonly reiterated it at many of his shows. Again, it isn’t a topic that many celebrities tend to speak about and for him to constantly address the matter, just showcases his authenticity. My previous posts discussed how important I think it is to speak up and especially when you have the platform to reach millions. Personally, these small things make me love him even more and gives me more admiration for people like him in the industry.
